With a country becoming as health obsessed as ours, there are many doctors and scientists researching different ways to eat right and be healthy. Some feel that what we eat and put into our bodies matters greatly – even down to the molecular level of our body’s physiology. It is out of this philosophy of thinking that the idea to eat certain foods according to your blood type was developed.
The argument is that your body is predisposed to digest certain foods more efficiently and absorb vitamins more effectively depending on your blood type. Peter D’Amato is the author of the book Eat Right for Your Type: The Individualized Diet Solution to Staying Healthy, Living Longer & Achieving Your Ideal Weight and he believes that blood types affect digestion. He even takes it a step further by stating that foods that can be good for one person might be considered “dangerous” for another. He also believes things like what illnesses’ one is prone to and how one should exercise is determined by what type of blood one possesses.
Although it is a very interesting train of thought, the plan is not without its critics. Many critics claim there is a lack of evidence to support doctors such as D’Amatos claims. I am not in any way endorsing or not endorsing this “diet” by suggesting that you do or do not take part in it. I do think however, that is a very interesting philosophy of thought and window into how our bodies work.
If you are interested in learning more about this proposed plan, Dr. D’Amato’s official website is http://www.dadamo.com/ and I’m sure you will find the website an answer to whatever questions you may have! Enjoy!
