Never in all of your life have you ever seen a wedding quite like this one. In fact, it is so far beyond what you could have ever imagined that your heart seems to bubble over with joy. There are thousands of guests all laughing, dancing, and truly enjoying one another’s company. The band is playing the most beautiful music and something inside you just wants to twirl around and around. There are tall, white columns that stand regally at the entrance of the room. And there you find yourself between them, looking all-together radiant in your most stunning white dress.
The other guests turn their heads as you gracefully walk by. You smile because each one of them has donned their equally beautiful, white attire. How wonderful is it that you can all celebrate together! The banquet table is set with the most exquisite crystal and silver and gold. It runs for miles in each direction and yet each seat has the most elegant place card. You find yours and run your fingers over your name. You know it was written by your Groom.
The ink is crimson colored. It is the most expensive ink. The Groom had paid the highest price. You close your eyes to remember.
The sky had gone black that day and the pale light illuminated three men each hanging on a tree. Their hands and feet had been nailed. The two on the ends had committed terrible crimes, but the one in the middle, you remember, had done nothing wrong. He was the perfect man. In His agony, His eyes held your gaze. It was look of love, compassion, forgiveness. And although He said nothing, you had a horrible feeling that you should be in His place.
You broke the stare. A heaviness unlike you ever imagined came over your heart. Yes, you should be in His place. He was dying for you. And then panic set in. You wanted to cry, “Stop! Let Him down!” But it was too late. With a smile He closed His eyes.
Oh how much He loved you! How much He loves you still! If your Groom had not died, you knew He could have never written your name so beautifully. If your Groom had not died, you knew He could have never defeated death. Oh what a glorious morning that was when He came back to life! You will never forget. And now you are here, at your wedding. You are the bride of the Groom who died in your place.
Overwhelmed with thanksgiving, you opened your eyes. Your heart just wanted to explode with happiness. You have a longing to see His face. At that moment, the trumpet sounded and hush fell over the great banquet hall.
And there the Groom stood. You had never seen Him like this before. He was no longer just kind and gentle. He was majestic, powerful, glorious. On His head were many crowns and He wore a robe dipped in the blood by which He had saved you. He wore a mighty sash that read King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
This is no ordinary wedding. Your Groom is Jesus. And you are His beloved.
This is a fictional adaption of true future events. To learn the whole story read Revelation 19. Jesus Christ is your Groom. He did die for you. He took your place on the cross. He is inviting you to the greatest wedding of all time. All you have to do is accept His invitation and put your whole trust in Him. Click on here for more information.
